Although I will never shop at this store I am posting a photo of it because of two reasons:
- (one) Because my friend Chris from Newcastle (UK) will enjoy the body piercing reference.
- (two) Because as a teenager our youngest daughter used the response whatever to most of our request. The response was delivered with an attitude that only a teenager can accomplish. Fortunately when our youngest daughter turned 21 she discovered that her parents were okay after all.
PS: A question for our international readers. Do you have a similar slang term used by teenagers to indicate indifference, or begrudging compliance?

Thank god they grow up!
Love the shop front – what a hoot!!!
In pidgin I think the closest to whatever would be “muski” – which means forget it/leave it or end of topic
or “mi les” – which translates to I’m lazy about that
classic shot. I’m trying to work out- who’s the lady in the middle on the top. I might give the Clove Cigarettes a miss.

I can relate to the “whatever” – i usually get the complimentary eye roll from my 15 year old with it.
Today’s word for “whatever” in the states seems to be “meh.” I see it used often, especially online. I’m not sure where “meh” originiated or if it has any true meaning, but someone told me once that it began with Bart Simpson on the animated TV series, “The Simpsons.”
In German, it would be “egal”.
Which means exactly the same…
