The restaurant, Sticky Fingers, deserves an at-a-boy for providing drinking water for passing dogs on Main Street in downtown Greenville. In fact several restaurants do the same. Many of these restaurants also have free dog biscuits … The question is: Did I take this photo because of the dog or because I wanted a reminder that Happy Hour is from 4 until 7?

I think it is wonderful that the restaurants offer this for the dogs! My “kids” will be so happy when we get moved to Greenville. It really does seem like a dog friendly city. Was wondering if you have any pictures of the dog park?
Love the site! Keep up the excellent work!
I’m sure you took the photos for both reasons.
I think it is a great idea in the summer months to help out man’s best friend. Saves the owners carrying bowls and water bottles too!!!
Great idea! I once went for tea to the American bar of the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. Asked for water for the dog and it arrived on a silver tray with special biscuits. I was most impressed! The norm tho is a plastic bucket or used ice-cream container.
How thoughtful of the restaurant management ! Of course you took the photo for both the reasons.
My grandma used to put chapatis and water out for dogs, as they owned a house, but when you live in apartments, the best you can do is put out some grain or bread and water for birds at the window or balcony.
I am impressed. People here walk their dogs in neighborhoods along quiet streets. Since there is nothing downtown at all, it would be like walking in a ghost town. Dogs don’t like that.
Nice photo. I am impressed by the thoughtfulness of your city businesses who provide water for dogs.

I love taking photos of dogs and people with their dogs in downtown Greenville, when i am there.
And pointed out the doggie water bowls to the friends I took with me last time I was there.
The dog in your picture, I am pretty sure is a Llasa Apso which is what my dog is. They are great companions.
I’m not sure about your happy hour, but it was happy hour for this dog. That is great that some businesses would put water out for the dogs. Great idea. They should do that here.
I love downtown Greenville because the businesses are dog friendly. Lucy Loo Hoo will make a visit soon to her see her Grand Pup Parents!
What a great idea for a restaraunt! I guess it’s happy hour for the dogs too!
I love this photo — the angle is great. And of course it’s because of the dog, right? Right?
Katy, I will try to take a photo of the “dog park” at some point in the future … When you move to Greenville be sure and attend the event called “Paws in the Park”. Your kids will love it.
Jules, I really took the photo for the dog. I did want to include the sign but only noticed later that the sign included a comment about happy hour.
Jilly, that is great story. Thanks for sharing it … Connie and I lived in Brussels many years ago and it was common to see dogs in fine restaurants eating from very nice bowls.
Anu, yes pets often own the house. Over the years we have had three cats and they certainly trained us on who was boss.
Abraham, yes Greenville supports pet lovers … Sadly, we have grown to the point that dogs are no longer welcome at all events … The revitalization, of downtown, helped Greenville become recognized nationally.
Ann, I may start a series over time showing dogs and the dog bowls up and down Main Street.
Barb, yes the dog was very happy as was the owners.
Lorena, we look forward to seeing you, Chris, and Lucy Loo … For my readers an introduction may be necessary. Lucy Loo Hoo is my daughter Lorena and my son-in-law Chris’ dog. That make me a Gran Pup Dad.
Dan, you are right. The local restaurant’s make friends who come back regularly.
Lessie, yes I took the photo because of the dog … Thank you for noticing the angle. I was very pleased with the perspective of this photo. I held my camera next to the ground, pointed, and took the photo without looking through the view finder.
