Oops, I was not fast enough to introduce you to our neighbor. However, the photo does a good job showing that bicycling is becoming more popular in Greenville. Another of our neighbors and friends purchased herself a bicycle yesterday. Connie and I have discussed the possibility however we will most likely put off purchasing bicycles until September when we can enjoy the cooler weather.
June 12, 2007 - I would like to introduce you to our neighbor …

I’d like to get a bike too…but I want a recumbant and they can run around $1,000 for a cheap one…not sure I want a bike that bad.

when it is made hot, to come to work in the bicycle, it is not always pleasant, especially if there are no showers at the office. but it is a very good idea, I did it during one year, but after they did work and it became dangerous for the cyclists

I like to ride my bike in town. I used to like to ride it in the country. Then one day when my feet and legs were churning away trying to make some progress against the head-wind, I wondered about my ticket. At my age and my history of problems, if I dropped dead I would surely loose my glasses and skin myself up badly. So I began wearing dog tags and in that way people could figure out where to take the body. So instead of that worry I began riding in town. And it is nicer. If I drop dead here I might lay there a week before somebody moves me.
I like your photograph of your neighbor off on his bike and it is comforting to know the other neighbor bought a new bike yesterday. And if would be cheaper to wait until fall to get them as bikes are not as popular in the fall and winter and most stores try to clear out their inventory.
Nice post. As you can see if caught my attention.
I have 1 baby raccoon today and a pile of poop!

A great way to enjoy the outdoors, and this has inspired me to get mine out of the garage and pedal to our village shopping area for coffee and conversation with the many regulars that hand out there. Good inspiration, Denton!! PS. Check out my header, which I did myself–altho I cheated by cropping the photo and pasted. Clever, huh? The techie stuff I leave to experts like you!!

Good idea! Good for health and for the planet too! Denton, I don’t understand what does Norma mean by “recumbant”…

Perhaps cities all over will put in bike lanes and people all over will purchase them and we’ll all be healthier as a result of the high gasoline prices.

Lavender Lady (Norma), I have seen recumbant bicycles but never ridden one. But I doubt is we will spend $1,000+ for bicycle either.
Olivier, you are right. A shower would be needed after a ride to work.
Abraham, you set a good example which we all should follow.
Kate, I love it when someone says my photo inspired them. I hope you enjoyed your coffee and conversation … Your header (at Visual Saint Paul) is great.
Alice, recumbant is a type of bicycle which places the rider in a seated position.
Annie, we can always dream.

Thank you Denton!
I have ridden 2 1/2 hrs so far today, and it is Hot (91)! Came inside to take a break and cool off, also to re-hydrate. I enjoy riding downtown. I see so much and meet and greet with so many people. There was a time I could keep up with all of the developments, projects, happenings, etc. going on in town but now I am continuously challenged to stay informed. I take the “paths” less traveled occasionally, which leads to new discoveries.
Would love to see everyone come out and bike. Shane
