April 26, 2007 - Dance lessons on your lunch break

Dance lessons on your lunch break in Greenville, SC Yesterday at lunch I went looking for a photo opportunity and downtown Greenville did not disappoint me. As I walked past Wachovia Place I heard music and noticed a crowd. It turned out there were dance lessons underway which I much enjoyed watching.

PS: If you are interested you may follow this link to download a copy of my daughter’s college paper on Managing Innovation. The paper was written by my daughter, Yvonne Harryman, and seven other authors working on their masters at Johns Hopkins University. Their grade is partially set by the number of downloads.

Well, you had a nice day for lunch and this would be a total surprise for me to see. It was pouring rain here in Ohio yesterday and still is this morning. I took some photos through the windshield. You might be interested.

How fun…dancing in the street. I remember when I was very young (a very long time ago :-) ), there were street dances where they closed off a couple streets and music of the time - like “Rockin Robin” (does that date me big time?) and the street were FULL with dancing. Great time.

So, are you and Connie signing up for lessons on your lunch hour?

Wha a “great” picture. I am so envious. I will download the book on Yvonne’s site when I get home. The hotel might not manage, but I don’t have time to read it.

My daughter must learn to danse waltz and so on for her university feast at the end of June…and she is quite afraid about it! What a pity Greenville is so far from France!

Was it tango lessons? I asked because it looks like the woman in black is ready to tango.

Abraham, I considered trying to take a rainy day photo today but stayed dry and posted from the archives tomorrow.

Olivier, we have the same expression (two left feet) and it truly applies to me.

Ann, I remember sock hopes. Does that bring back a memory.

Carol, thank you.

Leonda, no lessons for us. Instead I ate ice cream and watched. I’m much better at that.

Lavender lady (Norma), thank you.

Alice, my memory of prom (university feast) is a lot of slow dancing with very few fancy dance steps.

Rudy, yes it was the tango.

Love the atmosphere of the photo. I downloaded “Managing Innovation” and it is lengthy. May I skim?? I still have it on my computer!

Dad - was the lady in black the instructor? I can’t imagine a young lady dressed to the nines walking down main street at lunch ready to dance! It makes you wonder the intentions of the young man that is learning how to dance. :) - Lorena

actually, the lady in the black dress and the young man that she’s dancing with are both professional dancers. i’m sure that they were either leading the lesson or helping! they are very sweet :) you should really go see any of carolina ballet theatre’s shows!!!! they are all great!!!
