April 20, 2007 - Dad

The setting sun in Greenville, SC

Today, Jesus, as You are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad
and give him all my love.

(borrowed from a poem called Dad by Judy Burnette)

I have a feeling that there is a special significance to this day. Whatever it is, I think it may be important for you to acknowledge it, right?!

As soon as I left the last comment, I imnmediately went to Norma’s post, and learned of your Dad’s death. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences at the loss of your father.

Denton, I followed the link to your sister’s blog, but already suspected…I left this same message with your sister….
It’s been a melancholy week. M. Benaut from Australia lost someone dear, and now you and your family have experienced great loss. Your friends in Minneapolis extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
In his sermon last week our minister said something that I may never forget: Death is a comma, not a period.
May you find peace in those words.

I looked at this first thing this morning. On the way to work I called my Dad. Thanks Denton.

Denton, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Art was a great guy. He touched the lives af many people in lots of positive ways. I know he touched me. I am glad Norma got to spend some time with him recently.
We will keep you all in our prayers. I know there are no words that take away the pain of losing a father. I love the comment about death being a comma, and not a period.

Denton,

I’m so sorry for your loss. It been a sad week for a few DP family members.

On April 19th, my mom’s sister passed away. Although only my Aunt she stepped in when my mother passed away many years ago. She was sort of like my surrogate mom!
