It is prom season in Greenville and everywhere you look the kids are all dressed up. Youth and optimism is everywhere. Notice the white tux. When I graduated from high school, 30+ years ago, a white tux was the fashion statement of the year. Looks like the fahsion has come back around.

The shot reminds me of my prom nights, although our dressing was more ethinic and traditional.

Oh the good ol days to be young and free again. When kids are young they can’t wait to grow up but I sure would enjoy the ability to go back in time for a short break of all the responsibilities one has as we get older.

I love this picture! How fun it is to see kids all dressed up for prom. And the dress fashions have CHANGED! :) All in short dresses and black. Interesting. Being a girl from the 80s, I’m wondering where the beads, sequins, and should pads are!

Several smart women in the Cities put together a donation program and provided thousands (yes, thousands) of prom dresses, shoes and accessories for young women who couldn’t afford their own–identified through youth groups, churches, schools, etc. What a great idea, and the dresses were wonderfully fashionable, donated by bridal shops, stores, and young women who had extras of their own. When I was in school, one family had a third floor attic lined with prom dresses that we traded and switched among a rather exclusive much smaller group of friends. Same principle. But this huge donation program was a wonderful brain child of some philanthropic minded women!!

Thank you for your comments. This photo was a lot of fun. And yes I wore a white tux in 1969. Connie was my date and a year later we were married.
