On my walk to work yesterday I was lucky to catch these kayakers going over the Reedy River Falls. I took a hundred photos and smiled all day thinking about which one I would post … I can not help myself, I have included extras thumbnails in today’s post. Click on them to see the full impact:

The second thumbnail is my favorite! Looks like fun…for them.

I can readily understand why you smiled all day long! Catching moving water is difficult, and, in addition, these are joyful photos. I, too. love the second thumbnail shot: the red kayak is very eye-catching. These are wonderful photos.

Those are fantastic shots! The second thumbnail is priceless. I can’t believe you’ve got whitewater kayaking in, what it looks like, the middle of town! Have you and Connie ever been tempted?
PS I will never thrust you with another secret again ;-)))

Wow. Guess they have to wait for it to rain like it did Thursday to have enough water to make it.

I can’t believe that people actually kayak over the falls! Cool pictures.

Eric has a good point. All my readers may not realize that for these kayakers to have this opportunity we had to have a lot of rain the night before. The falls normally does not have this much water. See my September 26th post to see what the falls normally looks like.

Seeing these photos gave me the feeling of high adventure!

Denton, after rain in the source hills up-river Richmond upon Thames is scary looking, but we cannot ever hope to lay on a show like that! Tks for your help the other day.

That’s just 100% pure unadulterated insanity right there … no two ways about it … but they made for some incredible photos! Nicely captured, Denton!

having just finished Deliverance by James Dickey, your photo holds a slightly different timely interest for me.
WOW-talk about shooting some rapids!
Great series of shots Denton.

Exciting photos! Glad you included some extras for us.
I watched some guys surf (in Florida) after the big storm that hit the other day. But I don’t think they had near as much fun as your kayakers! I love whitewater rafting but have never kayaked.

Love all these action shots! What a great way to start your day! Were they shooting the falls, getting out and re-running them? (similar to sledding down a big hill, then climbing back up again) You captured some great action shots!

Awesome shots. What a treat to run those falls before work. I’m jealous. What a beautiful thing to have a center piece for your great city.
