In no way do I encourage behavior such as this. However, I did find it interesting and thought you would enjoy the photo. Yesterday, this young man was doing some unauthorized rock climbing on a wall next to the bridge on Main Street. When I took this photo his top hand was about 12 feet of the ground.

There’s a lot of that here, too, and man-made-indoor ones, too. Me, I can’t even come down a ladder so, pass. (However, I would one day like to go abseiling… And skydiving….)
Fredrik said,
The activity is called bouldering (from the word bolder) among climbers and it is a popular training method. It’s really fun but hard on your fingertips.
Sally said,
It’s a sorry cliche - but sometimes, boys will be ….! I had a friend Nigel once who climbed anything in sight!

Looks like alot of fun… that is to sit and watch him.

It does make an interesting photo — I found myself just staring and staring at it. Gosh, I hope that kid doesn’t break his neck.
DigitalRealm said,
It looks fun, however, there is no way I could ever do it! Now more than ever I realize, I really need to join a gym!
Kate said,
He looks like a human fly! Great capture.

First let me assure everyone no one was hurt during the taking of this photo.
Olivier, rock climbing is popular here as well. Rocks and Ropes is a popular climbing establishment in downtown Greenville.
Zannnie, no he stopped half way up the wall and then jumped down.
Meg, I had to look up abseiling. I may be past the age for even considering the idea of rappelling.
Fredrik, Yes I have heard the term bouldering. The young man in this photo commented that it was hard on his fingers.
Sally, Greenville has lots of rock climbing opportunities in the mountains.
Pastorick, yes the most fun is to watch.
Lessie, the kid is safe.
DigitalRealm, me too.
Kate, thank you
Helen, he was pleased with himself.
Jing, in the official climbing businesses there is always protective equipment but not with the unauthorized climbers.
