February 8, 2007 - Earle Street Historic Preservation Area

Earle Street Historic Preservation Area in Greenville, SC I don’t have a lot to say about this photo other I took it last weekend in the Earle Street Historic Preservation Area near downtown. If any of our readers know the type of grass shown here please leave a comment … Now for a story about the photo I missed. A local reader sent me an email yesterday saying there was a orange Lamborghini and a red Ferrari parked downtown. Sadly I missed that photo opportunity due to work.

I beleive this is pampas grass. It is a beautiful, worry free, fast growing grass and the plumes are used in dried floral arangements.

Hi Denton, It’s good to be back! Thanks for your help; can’t wait ’til others know that I’ve resurfaced again so I can renew old acquaintances. I got everything straightened out and I even have the last Daily Photo links on my new site. PS. I, too, am so sorry that you missed those two sports cars–they’re beauties, and I haven’t been to a gymkana (sp?) for years now!!

Denton,
In Australia we call it Pampas grass. It has extremely sharp fronds, razor sharp and dangerous !!
Thank you kindly for visiting Adelaide Daily Photo, it’s been a great time so far and your comments were most welcome.

Who needs a Lamborghini and a Ferrari makin’ noise when you’ve got lovely, soft, beautiful, quiet grass blowing in the breeze? :)

Love the contrast of the green, cream, blue, and black. Very pleasing.

I have always heard them called papas grass as well but not sure if that is correct. Nice composition of your photo.

Jsbythree, thank for letting us know the name of the grass and it’s uses.

Kate, your are welcome. I checked your comments and it looks like the community has found you.

Santy, yes very calming.

m. Benaut, thanks and your are welcome.

Jazzy, one of the great parts about the daily photo community is finding little things in common.

Lisa, maybe nice calm beautiful grass one day then a Lamborghini the next.

Lessie, thank you. I was pleased.

Pastorick, I actual took most of my photos of this scene trying to capture the sun reflecting through the grass. Unfortunately most of those did not turn out very good. But this one did.

DigitalRealm, thank you. Your web design work is impressive. Let me know if you your clients would like to purchase photos of Greenville or a web-service feed showing a new photo daily.

Denton,

Thanks for the tip about contacting Eric to register for the daily photo blog. I did not figure out how to contact Eric but I did figure out how to register. I thought I did it once before but nothing happened. Lets see if I get it right this time.

Congratulations on getting you photo published in a magazine.
