February 2, 2007 - A run on milk and bread

The Reedy River and Liberty Bridge on a snowy day in Greenville, SC This photo was taken yesterday morning on my walk to work. As you can see Greenville received so snow. The photo shows the Reedy River, the Liberty Bridge, and freshly fallen snow. By the end of the day about 2 inches of snow, sleet, and freezing rain fell. As normal there was a run on milk and bread at the grocery stories. My oldest daughter says, in advance of a storm, she stocks on up on beer and dog food. This keeps her husband and pet happy. What do you stock up on in advance of a storm?

Hmm!! Eggs & bread & ham & cheese. Coffee & milk. OJ. That’s all I need!! Okay, maybe a portable heater and a warm blanket!

So good to have milk delivered here and the milkman does eggs too. We stock up on cans and bulky items by ordering groceries online. The only problem then is fresh bread, salad stuff and cooked meat for sandwiches.

Now that’s a good question. My husband and I try hard to avoid the grocery before a storm but if we absolutely have to have some coffee or some milk for the cofee, we’ll brave the chaos. I’m one of those persons who has a pantry and freezer stocked full of food so often storms provide me an opportunity to use what’s on hand.

Lovely photo. Before a storm? Candles, nibbles, wine, and a new paperback.

What a beautiful scene in Downtown Greenville, Denton! Very lovely! I wish I was brave enough yesterday to drive downtown for a few photos of my own, but alas….I was hunkered down.

I noticed today that there’s a Yahoo! Widget for the various dialy photo blogs (including yours). I’m sure you may already be aware of this, but thought I’d mention it anyway:

I was just out of college when I told Dad the essential were beer and dog food. Now a bit older I have moved on to higher priced “adult” beverages and understand the importance of also having some food on hand! Also, I can’t forget the kitties in the houshold.
