The Greenville News Run Downtown was held Saturday morning and we were up in time to take a photo. Then we went to have a bagel and hot chocolate. Maybe there is a reason I am out of shape.

It looks like it was a great day for a run! it always amazes me all that energy, pent up and just waiting to be released. Makes me tired sometimes.

I ran in the 2005 edition of this thing…well, I ran from the Starting Line (in front of Wachovia Place that year) all the way down to River Street and back up to the Richardson Street Garage….then I came up lame and walked the rest of the way. I overslept the start of the 2006 road race. I completely neglected to register for this year’s event…and didn’t even manage a bagel or hot cocoa.
Nice photo! I’m amazed by how many turned out this year. The Greenville News has tons and tons and tons of photos of the event.

Norma, did you notice the guy on the bottom right of the photo. His stride is enormous. Had I been in the race mine stride would have been a shuffle.
alice-d56, when you can join them make’m laugh.
RestedTraveler, my race days a long past. However, I was pleased to catch the start. Just being their added some adrenaline to my blood stream. By the time we finished our bagel there were several runners who had completed the race and then joined us at Coffee Underground.
Dsole , thank you. I’m pleased you noticed the perspective. I wanted to stand in the middle of the street to take the photo. However, there was a policeman who frowned at me when I considered it. So I chose a place on the sidewalk which extended into the street a little.
Lessie, I was going for a photo with the runners in the sunlight while showing downtown and the blue sky. Afterwards I regretted not being on the other side of the street. The sun was wrong for me to take many close ups … You will have to join us for a bagel sometime. We are at Coffee Underground most Saturday mornings. Normally around 11am.
Annie, I’m pleased I made you laugh. But I really do need to start an exercise program. My wife is not laughing as much as the rest of us. She would prefer an slimmer heather husband. My only option is to eat less and go for more frequent photo hunting walks. Racing is pretty much out of the picture for me.
