In between the winter weather on Friday and again on Sunday, Greenville had a beautiful blue sky on Saturday. This photo was taken Saturday and shows the blue sky as well as a planter designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The next time you are downtown in Greenville check these planters out. There is a small signature plate at the bottom of each planter.

That is interesting about FL Wright. I knew about his buildings and the schools of design in Arizona and Wisconsin, but I didn’t realize he did other things.

Hi from Madrid!
That is a really beautiful sky! Here it happened the same, weekend weather was so sunny and nice, but today it started raining… well, let’see how the day ends :)

I am curious, of course, about how you discovered these planters being by FL Wright. Did you just happen upon the little plates or did someone tell you before hand? It’s quite a nice find.

I was struck by the form of the planter — and then read what you wrote about Wright. How interesting! It is quite magestic.

Lovely photos this week. Looks alot warmer where you are! Loved the lights in yesterdays post. The way they lead the eye into the picture almost makes me feel the dip in the road!

Norma, the Frank Lloyd Wright website list his accomplishments. The list is very long.
Dsole, our weather has been unseasonably warm until the last few days.
Annie, I discovered the signature plates purely because of our daily photo community. Before posting a photo daily I would never have thought to look. Now I make a point of reading plaques.
Lessie, I agree they are majestic. Interestingly the buildings around would overwhelm most planters. So something majestic was needed.
Susan, thank you. I try my best however my time is limited in January and February. As a result I thought my quality had fallen off a little. Your note pleases me.

these are reproduction Frank Lloyd Wright planters that have been in production for the past 10 years thru a company in Seattle. They make several styles of Mr. Wrights planters that he designed from the mid 1890’s styles thru the 1915 style Prairie planters. The KEY is the “PLATE” on the planter which says Frank Lloyd Wright. That is the reproduction plates req’d by Taliesin who is the authorizing their being made via a contract license. Taliesin is Mr. Wright’s firm and The Architectural School there he created and his home as well. It is located in Scottsdale AZ on Frank Lloyd Wright Drive. They have tours there as well as allowing young students to go there for college to get their architectural practice & license. Their school has been accredited since early 1990 if I recall, and the current dean VICTOR SIDY, I personally know. He is the product of their own schools and was a very astute student in his first year who I helped convince to stay there and help out. He has done a wonderful job there and has made the program successful. NICHOLS BROS. STONE PRODUCTS IS THE LICENSED MFR. authorized by Frank Lloyd Wright Association. http://nicholsbros.com/gallery.php is their website page.
