Annie, from the Little Rock Daily Photo blog, asked for a photo of the falls. The river was running very high yesterday when I took this photo so I focused on the curve of the bridge instead. It really is an amazing engineering accomplishment to build a curved suspension bridge. Annie, for a photo of the falls I recommend my September 26th 2006 post post which shows a more tranquil scene.
PS: I was pleased to read Annie’s comment from yesterday and find that someone from Little Rock knew of the Liberty Bridge in Greenville.

even before reading your description today I thought ‘what a marvel to build a curved suspension bridge’…. Indeed! Very cool structure.
An interesting bridge. Todays picture really gives you an idea of the design that was hinted at yesterday.
l’architecture de ce pont suspendu est superbe. je le trouve impressionnant. belle photo
the architecture of this suspension bridge is superb. I find it impressive. beautiful photograph
Wow. This is easily the best photo of the bridge I’ve seen to date. (And working next to it, I’ve seen plenty. :) ) And the strength of the water is pretty impressive too. Please take another from this angle as the seasons change. :)
Thank you so much for showing the bridge and its curve. It’s just phenomenal. And also thanks for the link back to the September shot of the rocks beneath. What a wonderful contribution to the world is this magnificent structure over the magnificent landform below.
Denton i loved the other phot of the bridge way better.. I like this one but i still love the other one…
Sophie Andersen, the Greenville city planners hit a home run when they removed an auto bridge and replaced it with a pedestrian bridge along with a major upgrade to Falls Park which the bridge is suspended over.
John, yes it shows the design well. However, I agree with ~Jess~ and Lisi. I like yesterday’s photo of the bridge better.
Olivier, thank you. The bridge has brought a lot of development to the area. But mostly I appreciate the bridge and Falls Park because I live and work very near them. So I see the park when it is full of people and when it is not.
Lessie, I was hesitant to take and post this photo because it has been done before by thousands of people. However, I am overworked this time of year and Annie asked. So I ran out over my lunch hour Monday and snapped a few photos. Interestingly an editor for http://www.screenreport.com sent me a request to use this photo in one of their articles.
Annie, your welcome.
~Jess~ I agree. Yesterday’s photo was better. But this one does a good job of sharing the design of the bridge with those readers who have not been lucky enough to visit Greenville … I’m very pleased you like yesterday’s photo.
I’m not surprised they wanted to use your photograph! This is the only one I’ve seen that captures the overall view of the bridge — the arc is wonderful. You can follow the entire suspension with your eyes. (Perhaps clear view is aided by the loss of leaves?) I’ve tried to photograph it myself and never been happy with the results. Bravo. But — that could be said for most of your pics. I really enjoy your site. Thanks for making the effort even when you are overworked. We appreciate it. :)
That bridge is absolutely amazing! Such an incredible feat of engineering…wonderful shot!
I agree. I have been to see the falls and there amazing.
That is a lovely shot. Taken from just the right angle.
