December 17, 2006 - The Hyatt Regency Hotel

The Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Greenville, SC This photo was taken last weekend on an extended walk and photo hunt which covered both ends of downtown. During that walk I passed the Hyatt Regency hotel and was surprised to notice the triangle shape of one wing in the hotel. Can you imagine how they positioned the bed in the rooms at the point of the triangle? … I was traveling this week and spent a lot of time in hotels. It was great to see relatives and it is great to be back home in Greenville.

Like a great ship’s bow pushing its way through the blue sky and tree limbs. What a striking image. Kudos!

It reminds me a bit of the Nat’l Art Museum in D.C. that has an edge to one part of the bldg. also.

Jing, I had to look “tatami” up on Wikipedia to know for sure what you were in reference to. Do you use the Japanese style in your home? I have to say it might be a challenge for me to get up in the morning after sleeping tatami style.

Kim, thank you. I have been to that hotel many times over many years and only last week did I really notice it’s architectural uniqueness.

Norma, there is no place like home.

Kate, the next time I visit my daughter in D.C. I will ask her to take my the National Art Museum.
