December 10, 2006 - Ice in the fountain at the Westin Poinsett Hotel

Ice in the fountain in front of the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, SC Cold weather has arrived in Greenville. This photo was taken yesterday morning showing ice in the fountain in front of the Westin Poinsett Hotel. The winters are normally mild in Greenville but the last two days it has been cold! I was pleased with the lighting in the photo and that the fountain was flowing.

I like this neat picture! It’s warmer here in MN than in SC.. was in the 40s today. The weather has been turned upside down lately.

Great shot! One of the few things I like about cold weather–the natural ice sculptures. Have a good Sunday!!

Carol, we were shocked to find the ice in the fountain and I told my wife I had to take a photo. She said there was no way she was stopping and that she would meet me at the coffee shop. This is really a rare occasion in our normally mild winters … I hope to ski Taos in February or early March so I don’t want it to be to warm in New Mexico.

Olivier, yes a solidified moment in time. If you click on the photo and look at the larger size you can see the fountain continues to flow.

Norma, it gave Connie the shivers as well. I just saw a photo opportunity which had to be addressed from all angels.

Kate, you speak from experience about cold weather.

Lisi, yes the temperature dropped fast. But mostly those responsible for the fountain were at fault for not remembering to turn it off before the freeze occurred. I will have to thank them.

Susan, at least it was not an ice storm like last December.

Lachezar, thank you and your welcome.

John, thanks.

Zannnie, thank you.

Jing, do you not have freezing weather in the winter?

Helen, very cold. But it does not last long.

Wow, Denton, I can’t get over this. As Carol said, it’s warmer in MI (she said MN) than in SC. What a weird fall/winter! What a great photo; of course you had to stop!

The weather is so topsy turvy this year Denton. Normal ly we would have had some snow by now, but in the U.K. it’s been wet and windy but quite mild. Smashing photo!
