December 6, 2006 - The downtown Library

The central Library in Greenville, SC Today’s photo is of the downtown library. I took the photo last weekend while enjoying the sunny sky. I especially enjoyed the graceful curves at the back of the building.

Our country is SO Lucky to have the number of libraries in our communities that we have. Spent my childhood in them, but none looked like this—most were the traditional Carnegie architecture. This one is a beauty.

Beautiful building. The sharp winter light cuts the building lines against the sky and outlines the architectural elements!

Beautiful light for photography, sorry about the cold :)

Cheers

Olivier, thank you. I also was pleased with the perspective of the second photo.

Jing, a mermaid? I will have to sharpen my imagination.

Keropok, I was actually surprised by the building because I had been there since they constructed the new building.

Kate, you are right and I also have fond memories of the library from my childhood.

Lachezar, the light this time of year is a photographers dream.
