I thought this billboard was funny, bold, and unique all at once. Hopefully she accepts his proposal. For our local reader you can see the billboard on Academy street near Washington street. For our readers from other countries I have a question: Do you see such dramatic marriage proposals in your country? If so please share some examples.

ooo…so romantic!!so happy girl she is!!
:))
and once in shanghai, a guy wrote his proposal on one train outside of the Metrol Line1. If you came to shanghai, you would know how crowded the Line1 is everyday. So lots of people saw that proposal. And when his grilfriend saw that…..you knew the result. Lots of wishes from the passerbys. hee hee….very romantic!!!

I once saw a plane fly over wih a tail message from this guy to a girl. I read in the paper later that she was so embarrased she turned him down!

this is so sweet and romantic…I think I’ve seen a couple of full page marriage proposal ads over the years in HK and in Vancouver, I was watching an ice hockey game in the stadium and a guy proposed on the big screen…very romantic!

Ruth, I asked my wife the same question. Given that she is differently the more knowledgeable between the two of us I always run with her opinion and/or explanation. My dear wife said “Johnnie is the female spelling for the name while Johnny is the male spelling for the name” … However, I see your point and it is certainly possible this is a gay couple in which one of the men uses the female spelling for his name or one of the ladies calls herself Larry … Sadly if this is a gay couple they will not be allowed to legally marry in South Carolina.

I tend to believe it’s a gay couple making a political/social statement. But in any case, I hope Johnnie accepts and everyone lives happily-ever-after….

Quite odd indeed. I suppose it is romantic as long as its not an interstate. or a sleazy part of town.
Can’t wait for THEME day tomorrow. I’m trying to dig up something appropriate, and equally odd.

I would tend to go for the gay couple interpretation, Makes the declaration even more dramatic. It’s beautiful anyway. Great find!

Hello! I’d like to add for the record that I went to college with a girl named Johnnie, so it could definitely be a girl!
This is my first comment here, and I just wanted to say thanks, it’s lovely to see pictures from my old hometown! :)
