November 24, 2006 - Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving

Pumpkin pie prepared in a condo downtown in Greenville, SC In 1976 my wife and I moved to Brussels Belgium. That was the first year we did not join the extended family at my Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving. However, I did call and visit. When Grandma realized that the Belgium’s did not celebrate Thanksgiving she suggested that I should take a pumpkin pie to work. That was many years ago and sadly my Grandma has passed on. However, following her advice I am sharing a pumpkin pie with the world via our Daily Photo blog. I hope you enjoy.

Thanksyou. Actually, I don’t like pumpkin pie (prefer eating it as a vegetable - roasted- rather than a sweet). BUT, given the proce of bananas here since last year’s cyclone in Queensland, I wouldn’t mind a banana, if I may?

It’s my favorite holiday, I think. But each one is different, isn’t it? The pies look delicious. You, of course, baked them–right!

Jing, my wife felt I was showing something a little to personal. But when she saw the photo she changed her mind and agreed to let me post it.

Sally, a banana it is then. We also plan to make a cherry pie if you would rather.

Midnitebara, thank you. I was very pleased with yesterday’s photo.

Edwin, we have delayed our Thanksgiving meal by one day so that my daughter and son-in-law could enjoy a meal with his parents. Today we feast.

Andreea, I have such wonderful memories or Belgium. Thanks for commenting.

Kate, I did the mixing and pouring. My wife gave the directions. Basically I did what any good husband does. I did whatever my wife told me to do.

Denten, actually i wanted to say i should spend more time on cooking as a woman. In my kitchen, less less cook stuff could be seen. hee hee….i seldom cook since i live by myself. it is a big problem for me that i don’t have a big stomach to finish all the food i cook. Then…with the time goes by…less and less cook stuffs in my kitchen.
mmm….but i really like eat at home.

Not crazy about pumpkin pie - any chance of a pecan pie? Mmmmm…We were very untraditional last night and topped off our feast with a mixed berry shortcake. Hey, to each his own :-)

Jing, I’m the best cook in our home. Although what we both like most is to cook together.

Lisi, thank you.

Isabella, I should have put whipped cream on the pumpkin pie before I took the photo.

Norma, a wonderful memory.

Patrick, thanks for stopping by. Check out the Greenville photo a day thread to the UrbanPlanet. Their URL is http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t14644.html
