October 29, 2006 - Bells in the trees on Main Street

Bells in the trees on Main Street in Greenville, SC The wind was blowing yesterday which lead me to notice these bells hanging in the trees on Main Street. The bells are at the intersection of Main and McBee. As you can see there are still a lot of leaves on the trees however there are others which are losing their leaves rapidly.

belle photo, petite question pourquoi il y a t-il des cloches ? juste pour le plaisir de les ecouter les jours de vent, ou pour une autre raison ?

beautiful photograph, small question why of the bells? just for the pleasure of listening to them days of wind, or for another reason ?

Special wind chimes! It’s an idea that I haven’t seen before. Leaves? Where are they? Gone in MN–almost anyway!

Hi , really nice the colours of your photo and your theme.
I have the same answer with Olivier…I have never seen tree bells before(only on our Christmas tree we put bells here)

Like Olivier, I wonder why belts are hung there …

Olivier, thank you. The bells used as wind chimes. They add some pleasant sounds on a windy day.

Kate, yes we still have some leaves. Greenville is further south than Saint Paul. Also, we have a large variety of trees and they lose their leaves at different stages. As a result Greenville’s fall last a fairly long time.

Jing, thank you and your are welcome.

Selana and Matthieu, they are used as wind chimes. Interestingly we have very little wind and the heavy foliage muffles the sounds. Fall and Winter are the best time to enjoy the bells.

Jazzy, I will have to ask around to see who put them up.
