October 11, 2006 - Bellacino’s Pizza and Grinders

Bellacino's Pizza and Grinders in Greenville, SC I would like to say thank you to the owners of Bellacino’s Pizza and Grinders who agreed to let me take a photo inside their restaurant. I was specifically interested in the lights. In addition any photo blog, about downtown Greenville, needs to include a photo from the historic building where Carpenter Brothers Drug Store was located in 1920 … Stop by and try their Grinders!

PS: I recommend local readers visit the Greenville History Society website where you can purchase a suncatcher / Christmas ornament of the Carpenter Brothers Drug Store and other historic buildings in Greenville.

I still need to muster up courage to ask a restaurant owner for permission to take photo’s. Someday I might..I should..I will.

And that million dollar house from yesterday’s post, wow! Must be grand inside too!
enjoy the rest of the week!

Great shot Denton… I wondered what was there once Meadors left. I will have to try the grinders for sure. Another note…. did you know that the building was once a funeral home ages ago ?? If you look at it… you can see where they used to “carrying them out the back of the building.” And to think, now they are serving food !! hahah It’s amazing how the downtown buildings businesses go from one thing to another.
Keep up the great work !!

John, the online Encarta dictionary says a grinder is: New England a sandwich with a filling of meat or seafood, chopped raw vegetables, cheese, and dressing, served on a long roll. Check out the Bellacinos menu to see specific examples.

Midnite, I’m pleased I have encouraged you to ask. What I found is that employees will most likely say no but an owner or manager will always say yes.

Krisz, Lisi, and Helen; thank you

Rock, once again you bring your Greenville expertise to our benefit. Thank you.
