September 26, 2006 - A busy evening at Falls Park

« day before | today | day after » A busy evening at Falls Park in Greenville, SC This last weekend there were lots of people enjoying Falls Park. This is a view from the pedestrian bridge. Recently Greenville opened River Walk, Arts Crossing, and a new fountain. The overflow foot traffic from Falls Park will naturally flow to these new attractions.

Where is the bluish tint coming from? Or did you tint the photo?

Wow, that looks like a superb place, hope we get to see more of it via your site. A river walk is a great idea, and right next to a built up area too by the looks of it. Terrific!

Thank you for your comments.

Anne, the bluish tint comes from this being a twilight photo. I have a few more taken that same night which I plan to post over the next two weeks.

John and Krisz, yes Greenville has done a good job of integrating nature with development. This scene is almost my backyard. We live just on the other side of the red building (Greenville’s Performing Arts center) in the middle of the photo. The pedestrian bridge, where this photo was taken, is two blocks from our condo. Also, the river walk is actually an extension of connecting parks in the center of the city. It is possible to walk or bicycle in file miles of green space downtown. The planners have also started a green space bike trail while will connect downtown with one of our universities on the outskirts of town. If it sounds like I’m bragging about Greenville, it must be because I am. Sorry.
