June 14, 2006 - Obelisk

While photographing the setting sun I played a little with perspective. The obelisk shown is in the Springwood Cemetery in downtown Greenville. The Landmark (BB&T) building is in the background. The obelisk is actually about 12 feet high.

Nice shot! Good use of perspective.

PS I find this new comment format a little less than user friendly

Nicely done. It didn’t occur to me when I first saw the photo the obelisk was actually much smaller than you made it appear.

LOL. Being an Ancient Egypt nut, it never even occured to me to think about the perspective. I was looking at it to see if it was the real thing ! *laughing at myself*

Looks like you’re experimenting with the ancient times. Yesterday the roman columns, today the egyptian obelisk, what are we gonna see tomorrow? ;) Love the light in this photo!

Only 12′ high? You did a great job fooling about with perspectives. I looked at the picture for some time and imagined how I would’ve taken the picture to get that effect if I were in your position.

Thanks for your comments.

Mark, I will look to see if I can improve the comment interface.

Nicola, tomorrows photo is old but not ancient.

Edwin, I did the same thing on the June 13th photo. Check it out then click on the link in the text labeled “different perspective”.

Thanks everyone.
